November 28 marked the third annual Call to Earth Day, a global initiative dedicated to sustainability and conservation. CNN partnered with individuals, schools, and organizations worldwide to raise awareness of environmental issues and promote education. This years theme, “Our Shared Home,” aimed to bridge the gap between humans and wildlife. Over 200,000 participants, including 235 schools, took part in various activities to protect the planet and inspire positive change. [source=cnn]

In Poland, students from The International School of Krakow created an ECOllage using trash they found in their local forest. The artwork showcased their collective effort to make the world a better place. Similarly, students from the Finnish School of Kosovo turned trash into treasure by painting waste glass jars to create upcycled artworks that spread awareness about reusing and recycling. In Lebanon, students from Makassed Islamic High School engaged in different projects, such as upcycling plastic bottle lids into a giant poster and making compost from leftover food. The aim was to promote sustainable practices and reduce waste. In Nigeria, children from Corona School Ikoyi created an awareness video highlighting the importance of sustainable living and upcycling. They emphasized how our choices impact our shared home and natural habitat. In India, students from CHIREC International School produced a news report-style video discussing ways to tackle water scarcity in farming districts. The United World College in Thailand celebrated Call to Earth Day by collecting mangrove seed pods for their schools mangrove nursery. The Mangrove and Gardening club nurtured the seeds in the nursery and planned to plant the saplings in a coastal location. This activity showcased their commitment to environmental stewardship. Schools around the world participated in the artwork and video project organized by Cognita Schools, from Chile to Thailand. Through their creations, students raised awareness about various environmental issues, including plastic pollution.
