OMG Sumbar s Mangrove Planting Initiative


OMG Sumbar, a volunteer group in West Sumatra, invited the community to plant mangroves on the Talao Apar Penyu Beach in Pariaman, West Sumatra. The coordinator of OMG Sumbar, Muhammad Fajri, stated that the purpose of this activity is to protect the ecosystem around the beach and prevent soil erosion. Mangroves are coastal plants that thrive in tropical and subtropical climates and have ecological value in stabilizing coastal areas and reducing global warming. Additionally, the planting of mangrove seedlings aims to instill environmental awareness in the community of Pariaman. The initiative has received positive responses from the local community, as they can see the impact of the activity on their environment.
