The UAE invites nations globally to support this initiative. \n The Mangrove Breakthrough, launched in collaboration with the Global Mangrove Alliance and the UN Climate High-Level Champions, has set key objectives of halting mangrove losses, restoring recent losses, doubling global mangrove protection, and calling for a 4 billion investment. This effort aligns with the Sharm El Sheikh Adaption Agenda, which accelerates initiatives for vulnerable communities. The UAE pledges to plant 100 million mangrove plants by 2030 to protect vital ecosystems. \n In a unique move, the UAE plans to plant 10 mangroves in Abu Dhabi for every visitor attending Cop28, potentially resulting in the planting of around 800,000 mangrove trees. With an existing population of 60 million mangroves spanning 183 square kilometers, the UAEs mangrove forests currently capture 43,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. Earlier this year, drones were utilized to scatter one million mangrove seedlings across various sites in Abu Dhabis Al Dhafra region. \n The UAEs endorsement of the 4 billion investment towards mangrove conservation reflects its commitment to combating climate change and preserving Earths natural treasures.
