The Ministry of Sustainable Development supported the IUCN in a four-day mangrove restoration training. It took place at Reggae Beach Pond and Major’s Bay Pond and focused on sustainable land management in St. Kitts and Nevis. The training helped stakeholders understand the importance of mangroves and taught them low-cost restoration techniques. Departments and a research student benefited from the training and established nurseries for seedlings. These seedlings will be monitored and planted next year to restore twenty hectares of mangroves.
