Joint YMCA-Middle School Campus Construction Update
Almost finished vertical construction for St. Petersburg’s joint YMCA and middle school campus. City Council approved replat plans, including new easements and changes to road layout. The complex, designed by Wannemacher Jensen Architects and Harvard Jolly, will serve 600+ students and YMCA members. School will offer electives aligned with YMCA’s focus, and provide before/after-school care and volunteering opportunities. Construction to be completed in Dec, school opens in fall 2024. YMCA paying $21.6M, School Board contributing $26.3M.
Vertical construction is almost done for the joint YMCA and middle school campus in St. Petersburg. The City Council supported replat plans for the 19-acre site, which includes new easements and changes to the road layout to address access and traffic concerns. The complex, designed by Wannemacher Jensen Architects and Harvard Jolly, will have shared facilities for over 600 middle school students and YMCA members. The school will offer electives that align with the YMCA’s focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The campus will also provide before- and after-school care and volunteering opportunities. Construction is set to be completed in December, with the school opening in fall 2024. The YMCA is paying $21.6 million and the Pinellas County School Board is contributing $26.3 million to fund the project.
